Sixth Region

No. 2 St. Xavier (19-4-2) won three straight state titles from 2007-09 but was ousted in the first round of last year’s state tournament by Collegiate. Coach Andy Schulten is high on new senior goalkeeper Nathan James, as well as strikers Neil Henley (committed to Xavier) and Mitchell Metzger and midfielder Danny Belza.

No. 10 Male (11-4-7) has a new coach in Chris Barron, who hopes to reload after losing top scorers Dylan Terry and Luis Romero to graduation.

No. 17 Manual (14-7-3) won the 12th District title last year before falling to St. X in the regional final. Senior Richard Ballard leads the Crimsons.

Butler (10-10) hopes to contend for the 11th District title behind senior forward William Arant-McMillan (14 goals) and senior goalkeeper Brandon Campbell.

Seniors Robbie Valdez, Joseph Petri, Scott Berger and Blake Keith return for a Holy Cross team that was 6-14-2 last year.

Paul Helvey is the new coach at Iroquois (8-1-1), which won the 11th District title last year and returns junior Abdirahman Aden (14 goals, 14 assists).

St. Francis (8-7-1) returns four top scorers from last year in juniors Setho Moshoeshoe (16 goals, 14 assists), Napo Matsoso (12 goals, nine asssits) and Noor Ambure (nine goals, 16 assists) and sophomore Abas Isgowe (14 goals, seven assists).
