Home » Football NewsEagles Advance to Second Round of PlayoffsNovember 5, 2012 Madison Southern High SchoolThe Madison Southern football team made some history Friday night with their 37-36 win over Perry County Central in the opening round of the state playoffs. 2005 was the last time the Eagles won a playoff game and 2002 was the last time they did it at home. After losing some tight games by one point during the season, the Eagles finally finished on the right side of a one point game and secured a second round matchup against Harlan County. Without sophomore running back Damien Harris, the Eagles got big games from senior quarterback Adam Simpson and senior running backs Wes Proctor and Coty Russell to keep Southern's season going. The seniors knew they would need to play their best to secure a win. "We knew we'd have to play big to win and I think we all wanted to step up to the challenge," said Simpson. The Eagles will head to Harlan County this Friday for their second round matchup.
