Home » Volleyball NewsSeason Ends with Loss to Dunbar in Regional TournamentOctober 16, 2012 Madison Southern High SchoolThe Madison Southern volleyball team squared off against #9 ranked Dunbar last night in the first round of the 11th Region volleyball tournament. The game was the Lady Eagles' first appearance in the tournament since 2010 and the second since 2006. Dunbar, who many have picked to win the 11th region, showed why they are expected to make a run deep in the state tournament in their 3-0 win over Southern. "That's one of the most impressive teams I've seen in my four years coaching" said head coach Jeremy Grant. "The speed they play at is just so far ahead of what we're used to and their coach has done a great job of building that program up over the last few years. We knew it was going to be an uphill battle, so our focus was just on having fun and taking something from the little victories and positives we knew we'd get during the game." The Lady Eagles finish with 14 wins, the third most in school history. "We won one game in the first month of the season," said Grant, "so to finish up winning 13 more games, with a heck of an effort in the district title game, and making it to Region is a big success for us this year; I'm proud of our girls."
