Eagles Pick up Win Over Indians

The Madison Southern Lady Eagles softball team completed a sweep of district rivals Thursday night with their 10-8 win over Madison Central in Richmond.  After giving up 8 runs through the first four innings, senior Jessica Helton only allowed three more hits the rest of the game.  "They hit the ball well early and we made some mistakes," head coach Brian Foley said, "but Jessica really stepped up at the end and took control."

The Eagles were leady offensively by seniors Morgan Grubb and Aleecia Broughton.  Grubb went 3 for 5 and scored 3 runs.  Broughton went 4 for 5 with three RBIs; two of the RBIs came on a home run in the first and the final RBI was the game winner.
