Season's End: Lake Worth Football

November 12, 2012
Lake Worth Community High School

The lights dimmed out on the Trojans season Friday night after the last game of the year against Palm Beach Gardens. The Trojans fell to the Gators 41-20 to end a disappointing season where they fell to 1-9. The Trojans were battered and bruised heading into the game as 3 of their starters were injured and sat out of the game, including quarterback Luis Pegeuro.

The Trojans were forced to move their number 1 receiver, Jermer Braswell, from WR to quarterback this week but the added versatility to the position opened up the offense a little. Jermer's athleticism provided a new element to the Trojan offense as they ran a lot of plays with a running quarterback. This did not mean that they would not throw the ball as Braswell connected twice with WR, James Jones for two touchdowns.  This was Jermer's last game as a Trojan as he completed a trifecta by running, receiving, and now throwing a touchdown in his high school career.

Richard Seraphin also played with a lot of heart as he had 100 yards rushing and a touchdown to finish his last game as a Trojan. It was a disappointing end to the senior’s career that did a lot for the team as both Jermer and Richard played on the varsity level for all 4 of their years.

The Gators offensive line though were too much for the Trojans as they protected J.P. Caruso who threw for a couple of touchdowns and although the Trojans stopped the number 1 running back for the Gators, a mixture of different running backs put together drives that the Trojans had a difficult time stopping.

The Trojans were young and things to look forward to in the future will be quarterback Luis Peguero as he is only a sophomore and big body receiver James Jones who also is a sophomore. The Trojans will also be returning their middle linebacker who led the team in tackles this year, Jose Rivera.

Although it was a tough season, the Trojans never quit and showed a lot of heart throughout one of the toughest schedules in the county.

Game Notes.....James Jones had two receiving touchdowns and close to a 100 yards receiving. Jermer Braswell had two passing touchdowns and Richard Seraphin ran in the other touchdown for the Trojans.
