Home » Football NewsRecap: Lake Worth Falls to DwyerOctober 31, 2012 Lake Worth Community High SchoolIn what was a crazy rare "Monday Night Football" event, most of Palm Beach County schools had to play a game last night, including Lake Worth and Dwyer. Dwyer ended up taking the game 37-0 but that score did not tell the tale of the game. Lake Worth's defense was stingy all night and forced a lot of Dwyer punts, especially in the first half as Dwyer led only 9-0 at halftime. Their scoring drive was a total of 2 yards because of a blocked punt and they added a field goal before half after only driving 10 yards after another shanked punt by Lake Worth. Lake Worth's defense dominated the first half, but the Dwyer defense answered the call as well as they totally stuffed the entire Lake Worth offense all night. Dwyer's biggest advantage was their team speed on defense overmatched the Lake Worth offense. Lake Worth got the ball in the second half but could not do much with it. Dwyer came back and the LW defense was still dominating the Dwyer offense. After a quarterback switch for Dwyer, it got them rolling as they hit a deep touchdown pass on a 3rd and long to go ahead 16-0. Dwyer would score again off a long touchdown pass to go up 23-0. The Lake Worth defense did not quit though and they were still stopping Dwyer, especially in the run game. The Dwyer coaching staff thought that was not good enough and continued to play classless football, as they were still throwing the ball with under 4 minutes left to run up the score even when Lake Worth put in subs. It is not hard to imagine Dwyer doing that considering how they recruit players and also play ineligible players just to win. It just is a shame to see that done with kids in high school but you have that. Lake Worth is a feisty team and they look to continue that this week as they take on Atlantic High School. Atlantic defeated Royal Palm Beach to control their destiny as if they beat Lake Worth, they will win the district. Dwyer will go on to play Royal Palm in whoever wins that game will secure a playoff berth as well.
