Lake Worth Community High School

The Lake Worth Trojans played an exciting game versus Olympic Heights in the opener in Boca Friday night.

With two days to prepare for each other Olympic Heights got the best of Lake Worth winning 36-26 in a wild, fun filled football game.

Lake Worth received the opening kickoff and went 3 and out and had to punt to Olympic Heights to start the game. After a shank punt, Olympic Heights capitalized on a quick 25 yard drive to go up 7-0.  Lake Worth came back on a 3rd and long play, taking a shot to senior Jermer Braswell for a 75 yard strike from Luis Peguero to tie the game up.

It was a roller coaster event for both teams as they each traded scores to be knotted up at 14, after a James Jones receiving touchdown grab in the 2nd quarter. With 30 seconds to go in the half, Luis Peguero tried to hit a seam route over the middle that was intercepted and returned down to the 5 yard line of Lake Worth where he was tackled and down. The ball popped out way after he was down and another Olympic Heights defender picked up the loose ball and ran it in. It was apparent that he was down, but the refs were not able to make the correct call as OH went into half up 20-14.

Olympic Heights went up 30-14 after a touchdown and successful two point attempt, and then a safety put them up with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. After another unsuccessful drive for the Trojans, it appeared Olympic Heights was going to run away with the game, but the Trojans would not surrender.

A dominant performance from James Looney at the nose tackle forced numerous fumbles. as he bull rushed OH's center. On the first fumble, LW's linebacker Clarence Theophile raced 65 yards for a touchdown to make it 30-20, after a failed two point conversion attempt.  The next series another caused fumble by James Looney was picked up by Warknell Frazil.

The next drive by Lake Worth was completed on a 4th down pass attempt to Nigel Ceasar over the middle connected for a LW touchdown to make it 30-26. Lake Worth failed on the extra point try.

Lake Worth's defense made another huge stop and gave the offense a chance to go up. The Lake Worth's drive was stalled after a few penalties from the flag happy referees and the ball was punted away by Lake Worth.

Olympic heights finally got going again as they punched in the final touchdown to make it 36-26.

The Lake Worth Trojans showed a lot of heart led by senior, Jermer Braswell, who had over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown, as well as close to 100 yards in kick returns. Luis Peguero finished the day with 3 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions in his first start under the Friday Night lights. Nigel Ceasar and James Jones added the other 2 touchdown catches.

Next up will be a game at Palm Beach Central on Friday, September 7th, at 7pm.
