Home » Boys' Basketball NewsThe Eagles Have Crashed! Wildcats Rise Victoriously!February 3, 2010 By Patrick Farmer of Lucy C Laney High SchoolFINAL SCORE Laney 74 Josey 63 Tuesday, February 2 2010 It seemed as if the Josey Eagles were flying high after the first quarter leading 18 to 13 over the Laney Wildcats. But whatever momentum Josey had was short lived as the Laney Wildcats made a strong push in the second quarter outscoring the Eagles 24 to 11, turning a 5 point deficit into an 8 point advantage by halftime. However, the Eagles would not give up and continued to fight closing the gap and even tying the score a few times in the 3rd quarter and momentarily taking a one point lead. Once again the Laney Wildcats turned up their level of play and intensity on both ends of the court surging ahead by a comfortable margin and coasted to a satisfying win. Corinthians Brown had a dominating performance, the best of his high school career so far, scoring 29 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. 9 of those came from the free throw line where he was 9 out of 11. Other major contibutors were Rod Hall with 19 points and Jamie West with 10 points who made 2 timely 3-point shots. Laney improves to 22-2 overall on the season and will travel to Vidalia Friday, February 5th to face the Indians.
