The Loretto Larks (11-6, 10-3), put on a hitting display Friday night in Buffalo. The Larks got on the board early in top of the 1st when Brandon Scanlon led off with a single, stole 2nd, got to 3rd on a groundout to the right side and was driven in on a RBI single off the bat of Eric Schutte.
The Larks struck again in the 4th when Herb Koch Jr. reached base on a fielder's choice, followed by a double by Scanlon. Kent Koch would bring in Koch Jr. from 3rd on an RBI groundout. Schutte single home Scanlon for his second RBI single of the day and Tyler Maher would add a single of his own. Ryan Schaust pushed Schutte across with an RBI single to end the scoring in the inning.
In the 6th the Larks would get one run off of an RBI walk by Luke Steinbach. The 7th inning is when the flood gates opened. Josh Hanson led off the inning with a single, followed by catcher's interference by Koch Jr. Scanlon singled to load the bases for Kent Koch who hit a sacrifice fly to right field. Eric Schutte then blasted a 3-run homerun down the left field line just inside the foul pole. Tyler Maher would make it back-to-back homeruns adding a solo shot to left center to cap the Larks scoring in the 7th.
The 8th inning the Larks would plate four more with another sacrifice fly from Kent Koch and another 3-run blast by Schutte to left center to end the night with 8 RBI.
Troy Beckman threw 8 strong innings giving up three runs while scattering 10 hits to go along with four strikeouts.
Next up for the Larks is a double dip Saturday July 7th. First game is at 2:00pm in Mound and the night cap will be in Loretto against Dassel-Cokato at 7:30pm.
