Home » Baseball NewsLoretto 7 Cokato 6June 7, 2012 Loretto BaseballLoretto (4-4, 3-3) needed a RBI single from Ryan Schaust in the 9th to get the 7-6 victory Wednesday night versus Cokato. Schaust ended the night 4-4 with a walk. Cokato took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off starter Troy Beckman. Troy would hold them scoreless till the sixth when reliever Ryan Tapani took over. The Larks would tie the game in the second on a RBI double from Nathan Maher scoring Ryan Schaust and fielder choice RBI from Herb Koch Jr. Maher would strike again in the fourth with a two RBI double scoring Schaust and Doboszenski. Tyler Maher would hit his first homerun of the season in the fifth over the 380 center field wall for the 6-2 lead. In the sixth, Tapani would give up three unearned runs and Cokato would cut the lead to 6-5. They would get another unearned run the eighth to tie the game. In the ninth, Eric Schutte would get a single and Reed Pawelk would move him to third on a single to right. Schaust would then deliver the big hit for the go ahead run. In the bottom half of the ninth, Tapani would walk the first batter and Pawelk would come in for the save. He would get a line drive out to left and Nathan Maher threw out the runner at first for the double play who was running on the pitch. After the next batter reached on base with an error, Pawelk would get a strike out to end the game. Next up Loretto hosts Buffalo on Sunday.
