Friday  the Lions traveled to Mediapolis to end the long week on the road.  Lone  Tree came out hot, hitting 4 of 7 shots from the 3 point line and building an 8  point lead.  Lone Tree cooled off the last 4 minutes holding a 1 point  edge at the end of the first 13-12.  The second quarter the Lions became  much more patient on the offensive end taking much better shots as they  extended the lead to 10 leading 32-22 at the break.  The Lions pressure  defense turned the tide in the 3rd as they extended the lead to 14.  Lone  Tree built an 18 point lead late in the 4th and they go on to win at Medipolis  62-50.

This  was a good win to rebound from a tough loss.  We played a lot better on  the defensive end and rebounded the ball much better.  We executed our  offense better starting in the second quarter and didn't shoot as many  threes.  We need to continue to get better in our man to man defense and  work to improve every game and practice.

Scoring  for Lone Tree-Trenton Gosnell 24, Nick Viner 11, Jovonte Squiers 10, Shay  Hudachek, Fedor Vyushkin, and Travis Gillham with 5 and Michael Schmidt with  2.  Rebounding-Matt 8, Jovonte 6, Assists-Jovonte 8 and Nick with 4.

Late game heroics were needed to defeat Mediapolis as the Lions improved to 11-2 on the season.  The JV team struggled during the first half and found themselves trailing by 10 at half time.  However, a frenetic comeback during the fourth quarter put the Lions in position to take the lead late in the fourth quarter.  Dawson Swails scored the go ahead and game winning basket with 2.7 seconds left on the clock.  The Lions were then able to get a defensive stop and hold on for the victory 50-49.
