January 10, 2014 vs Highland

Varsity Lady  Lions lit another match and were on fire taking an early lead Friday night  against rival Highland. Forbes made her first starting appearance tonight and  earned her keep, shooting 80% from the field.   The first quarter ended with LT up 17-11.  Highland fought back and finished the half 2  points behind; 29-27.  The third quarter  was a back and forth battle.  Flemr made  a half court Hail Mary at the end of the third to bring us within 2 points;  37-39. Unfortunately, our match was blown out the fourth quarter and Highland  out played us on both ends of the court; outscoring us by 11 points and  allowing us only 7 points in the 4th.

The JV team  has been showing steady and consistent improvement in their individual and team  play, as evident by their win against Highland; 38-34.  When we played Highland back in November, we  were defeated by 10+ points.  This group  of girls are really coming together as the season progresses.  They talk effectively on defense and work  together offensively to get the ball in the basket.  They give 110% of themselves all of the time.  Individually they are defining their roles on the team and together are  producing some fun wins.

        Total  Points:  Sieverding 13, Dodson & Grover 6, Chandler 5, Forbes 4,  Edwards & Wieland 2         Rebounds: Grover 7, Sieverding 4, Forbes 3, Pierson 2, Chandler, Dodson, Alt 1         Steals: Grover, Chandler, Dodson 5, Sieverding 3, Forbes 2, Pierson & Alt 1         Blocks: Grover & Dodson 4, Sieverding & Chandler 1
