January 4,  2014 vs. Bellevue Marquette Catholic

The Lone  Tree Lady Lion varsity basketball team "lit a match" and fired up  Saturday night.  Our typical game  schedule was skewed due to a leaky old gym roof and a JV boys overtime game; so  the girls were antsy and ready to play when it was finally their turn.  And, play they did...all the way to the final  buzzer.  Our most impressive stat was  cutting our turnovers by more than half, alas we finally took care of our ball!  Reynolds coined our slogan for the night, "light a match!" Teammates  obliged:  Flemr pulled a double double,  Warson finished top scorer, Heitman got on the boards shooting 67%, Forbes came  off the bench with lucky 7's, Sieverding contributed defensively keeping her  assignment under 10, Schmidt covered her teammates in foul trouble and contributed  defensively, Dodson, Edwards and Grover rounded out the team effort in the  46-41 win over Marquette.  The final  minutes were intense and we thank the Lion's Den and fan base who helped cheer  us on to victory!

Final  score:  46-41         Total Points:  Warson 16, Flemr 12, Heitman 9, Forbes 7, Reynolds 2         Three Point Makes:         Assists:  Flemr, Reynolds, & Forbes 3, Sieverding 2, Heitman &  Schmidt 1         Rebounds: Flemr 12, Forbes 7, Warson 6, Sieverding, Heitman, Schmidt, &  Reynolds 2, Grover 1 Steals: Sieverding, Forbes, Reynolds & Flemr 3,  Heitman & Warson 1         Blocks: Warson 3, Flemr 1         Next game:  at Columbus Junction, Tuesday, January 7, 2014

The JV Lady  Lions were at home but a different court than what they are used to...playing  in the south gym for this game.  Unfortunately  our practice court was not kind to us. Shooting 19% from the field will not win  many games, as evident this night.   Defensively we shut them down the first half holding them to only 13  points.  At halftime we had a 3 point  deficit; 10-13.  They made adjustments  offensively, however we could not fix our shooting trouble; Marquette slowly  pulled away taking the win; 23-35.

Total  Points:  Forbes 8, Edwards 5, Chandler 4, Dodson 3, Wieland 2         Rebounds: Wieland 3, Forbes, Dodson, Edwards, Alt & Grover 2, Chandler  & Shwab 1         Steals: Sieverding 3, Chandler, Grover & Wieland 2, Forbes & Dodson 1         Blocks: Dodson & Grover 1
