March 4, 2013 vs Boyden Hull - State Tournament First Round

The Lone Tree Boys Basketball opened up the Iowa State Tournament with the Comets from Boyden-Hull.  Lone Tree came out on fire as they led 14-11 on some key 3 point shooting by Andy Dodson.  The Lions could not pull away and they were held to just 9 second quarter points as was Boyden-Hull and they entered the half up 23-20.  The third quarter was all Comets as they out-scored the Lions 13-5 to take a 5 point lead entering the 4th.  The Lion offense caught fire as they scored 25 4th quarter points but it was not enough as the Lions bow out and end their season 58-54.

Though this was not the ending we worked for, our kids left it all on the floor.  We played hard the entire game and had our chances to win in the 4th quarter.  They out-rebounded us by 12 which only one other team did all year.  I am very proud and happy for this group of seniors-what a way to end their basketball careers at Lone Tree on the floor at Wells-Fargo.  I thought all of our kids did an excellent job of preparing and so did our assistants.
