The Lions boys basketball team kicked off the season on Tuesday facing the Panthers from Pekin. The Lions jumped out early building a 28-10 first quarter lead. Lone Tree’s pressure defense made it more difficult the second quarter as the Lions were ahead 51-27 at the half. The Lions intensity level was not the same the second half but they go on to win 87-58.
I thought our defensive intensity the first quarter was what made the difference in the game. We also got out in transition and scored a lot of easy buckets which continued through-out the game. We did a great job of taking care of the basketball the entire game, we did not shoot the ball well from the free-throw line which is something that has to improve as we continue the season.
Scoring for the Lions-Bryan Forbes 27, Shay Hudachek 14, Gabe Lorack 13, Lucas Sieverding 10, Logan Forbes 7, Matt Wieland 7, Trenton Gosnell 4, Andy Dodson and Jordan Quigley 2 and Riley Stumpf with 1.
Rebounding-Logan 10, Bryan 5 and Jordan and Gabe with 4.
