Lady Lions vs WACO, Mediapolis, WMU, Mid-Prairie Tourney

Lady Lions @ Waco - June 25, 2012; vs Mediapolis - June 26, 2012; @ WMU - June 28, 2012; @ Mid-Prairie Tourney - June 29, 2012

The Lady Lions travel to Waco on Monday night for one varsity game at 7 then host league leader Mediapolis on Tuesday for Senior Night.  The last home game for the Lady Lions will be a first round regional game at 7 against IMS on Monday, July 2nd.

On Monday, the Lady Lion softball team was able to defeat Waco 6-5.  The Lady Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Waco earned its way back in the game by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Lady Lion pitcher, Avery Edwards was able to strike out the last batter with runners on 2nd and 3rd to preserve the win for Lone Tree.  Catcher, Jenny Jones had 3 rbi's in the game.

On Tuesday, the Lady Lions hosted Mediapolis.  Before the game our two seniors Elyssa Mills and Jenny Jones were honored along with their parents.  The girls were presented a gift from the team and autographed softball.  Unfortunately several errors by Lone Tree and timely hits by Mediapolis led to a 17-5 Mediapolis win.

On Thursday, the Lady Lions were able to bounce back from the Mediapolis game with a very good game against WMU and come away with a 2-0 win.  Lone Tree did not commit an error in the game helping Avery Edwards pitch a 4-hit shutout.  Makenzie Reynold's bloop single scored Madelyn Flemr with first run after both teams went scoreless for the first five innings.  Then after Carson Gibson reached on a single and stole second base, Madelyn Flemr hit an rbi double to score Gibson with the insurance run that Lone Tree needed.

On Friday, Lone Tree traveled to the Mid-Prairie tourney to play two games.  In the first game the Lady Lions were defeated by a very good hitting Tipton team and lost 12-2.  In the second game Lone Tree was able to bounce back with a very good 6-4 win over New London, a team that defeated us 7-5 earlier in the year.  DH Maggie Schmidt led the way with two hits and an rbi.  Also Abbie Schmidt had a 2 rbi single.  Makenzie Reynolds and Avery Edwards each had rbi doubles.  The Lady Lions again played very sound defense committing no errors against a very solid New London team.
