Home » Boys' Basketball NewsFebruary 7, 2012 - vs PekinFebruary 9, 2012 Lone Tree Community SchoolThe Lone Tree Lions boys basketball team clinched the SEISC North Division championship with a hard fought 54-48 win over Pekin. The game started slow as both teams were very tight. The Lions held a slim lead at the break 19-18. The Lions loosened up in the third out-scoring the Panthers 17-12 to take a 6 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Lone Tree could never break away as Pekin cut the deficit to 3, some patience on offense and great foul shooting down the stretch gave the Lions the win and the out-right title. I wasn’t expecting us to be so nervous at the start, it really affected our offense, especially with some key turn-overs early. We really settled down on the second half and played more of our game. This had a tournament feel to it. I really thought we played great defense all night, they worked for every basket they got. We got killed on the boards, which is something we will have to improve upon, this is only the 2nd time we have been out-rebounded. Scoring-Bryan Forbes 26, Max Larew 10, Logan Forbes 8, Gabe Lorack 4, Andy Dodson 3, Tyler Gosnell 2 and Lucas Sieverding 1. Rebounding-Max 9, Bryan 4 and Gabe 3 The JV team picked up a win against Pekin in a tough 48-42 game. The win makes the JV team 16-2 on the season. Once again the Lion defense proved tough as they held Pekin to just 10 first half points. Timely free throw shooting preserved the win down the stretch. Scoring for the Lions: Shay Hudachek 3, Erik Murry 1, Nick Viner 16, Travis Gillham 1, Trenton Gosnell 8, Chris Ford 10, Levi Saterfield 5, and Matt Wieland 4.
