Home » Girls' Lacrosse NewsPANTHERS tested, but victorious!May 24, 2012 Lakeville North Lacrosse - GirlsThe reality of Section Playoffs is you win or you are done for the season. It’s apparent from the scores of all the sectional games so far that each and every game is going to be a hotly contested affair. Such was the case this evening at Lakeville North as the PANTHERS hosted the Burnsville Blaze in Sectional quarter-final action.
The Blaze and the PANTHERS traded goals for much of the first half. The Blaze were also very proficient at holding the ball and keeping the game a low scoring affair. At the intermission the score was 7-7.
The PANTHERS came out of the intermission break and scored four unanswered goals to open up some breathing room. Precision playmaking was the key as the PANTHERS scored on four well designed set plays to take control of the game. The Blaze could only muster another goal before the PANTHERS turned the table on the Blaze and went into a slow down offense of their own, effectively running about ten minutes of time off the clock.
As the brewing storm clouds gave way to torrential downpours, the game was postponed and then later called for lighting. With just over six minutes left on the clock the PANTHERS were declared the winners by tournament rules. The final score tonight was 11-7.
Next up for the PANTHERS is Section Semi-final action on Tuesday May 29th at HOME against Park, at 7:00 PM. Please make plans to come out and support LNHS Girls Lacrosse!
