Lakeville North Wins a Close One with Rosemount

The Panthers got some key hits in their last at-bat yesterday to defeat the Rosemount Irish 2-1.
The game was close, with the Irish scoring an unearned run on a couple of Lakeville errors in the fourth inning. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the seventh. Madison Malecha doubled to right field and advanced to third on a Michaela Zins single. Pinch running for Zins, Madison Andrews took second uncontested with Margaret Dunnett at the plate. Dunnett was hit by a pitch, making the bases loaded. Chloe Saholt lined a single into left field, scoring Malecha. The ball went by the Rosemount left fielder on an error, and Andrews came home to score the winning run. Dunnett had the only other Panther hit in the third inning.
Dunnett went the distance for the Panthers in the circle, giving up 1 unearned run on four hits and two walks, while striking out six.
The line on the game - for Lakeville, two runs scored, one earned, on four hits and one walk, with ten strikeouts. Rosemount committed two errors. For the Irish, one unearned run on four hits and two walks, with six strikeouts. The Panthers had one double play and committed two errors, and Rosemount had one stolen base.
The girls travel to Apple Valley today for a game with the Eagles at 4:15.
