Paperwork/ Clearance -- All athletes are required to complete either a Physical Clearance Form or an Update Clearance Form annually. A physical by a doctor is required every two years and the Physical Clearance Form is completed in those years. In alternate years the Update Clearance Form must be completed. In addition, a current blue card must be turned in for every sport. All paperwork is due by the first day of practice, February 25. Forms are available at LHS in both the main office and athletic office, as well as online at www.ihigh/lincolncards.com
Fees – All athletes pay “pay to play” fees at Lincoln. These fees are $210, or $40 for students on free/reduced lunch. There is an annual limit of $420 per student (so, if a student plays three sports, there is no fee required for the third sport) and $830 per family. Of the $210, $200 goes to the PIL District Athletic office to pay for transportation, administration, coaches’ salaries, etc. Only $10 stays with the Lincoln Athletic office. Nothing goes to the track program. We are asking all track and field families to pay a slightly higher fee ($240-$270) with the amount above $210 as a donation. These extra funds will go towards the expenses involved in track and field: equipment, uniforms, financial support for our “volunteer” coaches. If every track athlete contributes $50 we will raise $7,000 which is about half of what we need to cover our expenses.
Expenses – This is a list of some of the substantial expenses the track program faces. Varsity singlet’s - $1500 Ladders, med balls, blanks - $700 HJ and PV bars - $400 Javelin - $350 Hurdles - $600 Printer (for meet results) - $600 Travel and lodging for the State Meet - $2000 Coaching staff (the District pays for 5 coaching salaries, but we have, and need, a much larger staff - $8,000 Athletic trainer - $1500
Fundraising – In addition to asking families to make a donation with their athletic fees, the track and field team fundraises by hosting a middle school track and field camp (week of March 18th), by sponsoring a raffle, by having a dinner at our intra-squad Red/White meet on March 13th, and by selling uniforms (athletes may buy their uniforms – and keep them – rather than borrowing them from the program for the season). The website for ordering track and field uniforms and bags will be back up on Feb 18 and we will take orders until March 1. Order forms are also distributed on Feb 8 at the mandatory track athlete meeting, and will be collected on Feb 26.
Contact Info – There are two websites which contain important information, race results, practice schedule, etc: www.ihigh/lincolncards.com and www.athletic.net. Also, please make sure we get your email as we do communicate regularly. Email Coach Charlotte with your email: crichi57@yahoo.com. Coach Charlotte’s phone number, 503-891-8153, is a good way to contact us in case of emergency, especially when we are at a meet.
Important dates - Parent Meeting will be on Feb 28th at 7 pm in the cafeteria. This is a very important meeting for all track and field families. You will get information about the season as well as have an opportunity to sign-up to volunteer. The Red/White intra-squad meet will be March 13 from 3:45-6:00. Come and get a first look at your athlete in competition. Plan to stay for the team/family dinner to follow ($5 per person to support the program).
