From Cross Country Head Coach David Prenger:

The Cross Country team opened the season August 26th, 2011 in “Primetime”, hosting the Moeller Invitational under the lights at the Kings Island Golf Center’s Bruin Course in Mason, Ohio, with a 3rd place finish out of 11 teams.

The top scorer for Moeller was junior Zach Hoffman with a 7th place finish in 17:37 (out of 81 runners) over the 5K course.   Rounding out the varsity squad was Andrew Mendel, Matt Ernstes, Mitch Gentile, Jimmy Clark, Ben Bruggemann, Jake Haigis, Brian Foos, Sam Bockhorst and Ray Gaier.

The JV Squad completed a perfect score (of 15) to capture first place in their race of 4 teams.   The top JV finisher was freshman Nicholas Mendel with a 2nd place finish in 19:07 (out of 66 runners).   Also scoring for the JV squad was Grant Lytle, Ross Griffith, Brendan Mulvaney, and Ryan Rinn.

Complete meet results for all races from last Friday can be found here.  (as a side note, the girls varsity results are being contested as some of the results appear to be inaccurate)

For the upcoming meet, the team travels to Greenville, Ohio on September 3, 2011 to run the Treaty City Invitational.

Thanks to all who came out to support the Crusader runners for this inaugural “primetime” event.
