Moeller Basketball Cruises to District Championship
Moeller imposed its will inside on Saturday with Fowler scoring 12 first-half points to help the Crusaders build a 29-17 halftime lead. Fairborn went 4 of 11 from 3-point range to keep the score relatively close.
Michael hit his fourth 3-pointer to cut Moeller's lead to 29-20 early in the third quarter.
"They hit some deep 3s. We knew that could happen," Kremer said. "We just wanted them to be tough ones."
While Moeller maintained a double-digit lead for much of the game, Fairborn never allowed the Crusaders to run away from them. Until the fourth quarter.
Anton's transition layup made the score 41-26. Fowler then hit a short hook shot to put the Crusaders ahead 45-28. Fairborn never rallied.
Moeller committed just four turnovers, all in the second half, and dished out 14 assists.
The Crusaders' leading scorer, Wright State commit Grant Benzinger, went scoreless on Saturday. But, had seven rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
"That shows what kind of player Grant is," Kremer said. "This team feeds off each other. I thought we were very efficient tonight."
