MOELLER WRESTLING UPDATE 11-7-12
MANDATORY WRESTLING MEETING ON THURSDAY NOV. 8 AFTER SCHOOL
There will be a mandatory meeting on Thursday, November 8 for all wrestlers planning on participating in wrestling this season. The meeting will be in the wrestling room and last until 4 PM. Varsity football players should stop and see Coach Gaier before Thursday’s meeting.
UPDATED SATURDAY SCHEDULE
Saturday’s schedule has been adjusted so that everyone who wants to attend the football game can do so. The new schedule: 8 AM – 12:30 PM (Varsity/JV); 9 AM – 11:30 AM (Freshman).
The Parent Meeting (for those freshman parents new to Moeller wrestling) will remain at 9 AM in the library.
REQUIRED ATHLETIC PHYSICAL / FORMS DUE ON FRIDAY
All students participating in wrestling must complete the required OHSAA participation physical before live wrestling can occur. Students can attend the practices but will be limited on activities until the physical is competed. Those who participated in a fall sport at Moeller should already have the physical competed. The physical form can be found at: PHYSICAL FORM
Other forms that need to be completed include: Moeller Student Health History, HIPPA Release, Mother Athletics Authorization, Moeller Athletics Release of Claim, and the Moeller Athletics Alcohol Tobacco Drug Policy. All these forms can be found on Moeller’s athletic website: PARTICIPATION FORMS
MOELLER WRESTLING REQUIRED CLOTH / SPIRITWEAR
A separate email will be sent later today explaining the new cloth / spiritwear ordering procedure. All orders will be done on-line with the items delivered to Moeller and distributed at one of the wrestling practices.
ALUMNI OFF TO A SUCCESSFUL START ON THE COLLEGE MATS
The Class of 2012 from Moeller’s wrestling alumni started their college careers with success. Joey Ward (North Carolina) open his college career with an impressive 2nd place finish at 133 in the Hokie Open held at Virginia Tech. Joey went 4-1, dropping a close final to George Dicamillo of Virginia. Tyler Ziegler (Gardner-Webb) opened with 3 consecutive wins to advance to the semi-finals of the Citadel Open before being upended. Tyler finished 3-2 at 125. Michael Blum (Ashland) went 1-2 at the Eastern Michigan Open at 174. Caleb Denny (UT-Chattanooga) started his career with a fall in Chattanooga’s 37-6 dual meet win over Anderson. Caleb, wrestling heavyweight, went 0-2 at the Hokie Open.
Eric Gobin (Army) and Pierce Harger (Northwestern) open their seasons this upcoming weekend.
Thursday, Nov. 8 – Mandatory Wrestling Meeting (wrestling room) 3 PM – 4 PM
Friday, Nov. 9 – FIRST MANDATORY PRACTICE (wrestling room) 3 PM – 6 PM (note: Coach Bowman will be at practice to start the Leg Clinic).
Saturday, Nov. 10 – Mandatory Practice Begins in the wrestling room
- Frosh Practice: 9 AM – 11:30 AM
- Parent Meeting (for freshman wrestling parents): 9 AM – 10 AM in the Moeller library
- Varsity/JV Practice 8 AM – 12:30 PM (note: Coach Bowman will be doing the leg clinic)
