CC boys basketball team open season ranked No. 6 in AP poll

Central Catholicis ranked No. 6 in Class A in the first Associated Press boys basketball poll of the season.

The Knights, who have won 11 consecutive sectional championships, totaled 129 points, 1 behind Fort Wayne Canterbury. Defending state champion Loogootee is ranked No. 1.

Frankfort, a 3A regional finalist last season, is just outside the top 10 in that class. Delphi (2A) and Rossville (A) were among the teams receiving votes in their respective classes.

4A—1. Cathedral (8), 2. Carmel (3), 3. Pike, 4. North Central (1), 5. Northrop (1), 6. Indianapolis Tech 120, 7. Hamilton Southeastern (1), 8. Warren Central, 9. Evansville Harrison, 10. Pendleton Heights.

3A—1. Greensburg (4), 2. Andrean (3), 3. Evansville Bosse (4) and Mishawaka Marian (1), 5. Norwell, 6. Guerin (2), 7. Muncie Central, 8. Lebanon, 9. Brownstown, 10. Mt. Vernon (Hancock).

2A—1. Park Tudor (10), 2. Bowman Academy (1), 3. Tipton, 4. Hammond Noll (1), 5. Bishop Luers (1) and Wapahani (1), 7. Eastern (Greene), 8. Clarksville, 9. Broad Ripple, 10. Sullivan.
