GT&F RANKINGS: Lawrence Central begins outdoor season at No. 2

The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches has released its first poll of the 2013 Indiana high school girls track & field campaign, and two-time state champion Lawrence Central begins the season in the second spot as we leave the comfort of enclosed competition areas for a chilly and snowy start to the outdoor season.

The Bears – your 1996 and 2010 state champ and a runner-up finisher to No. 1 Carmel at the recent Hoosier State Relays at Indiana Wesleyan – sit right behind the two-time champion Greyhounds atop a first five rounded out by nine-time state champ Fort Wayne Northrop, Noblesville, and Terre Haute North.

The IATCCC’s initial Top 20 (thank you, Julie Alano and Sean McGinley!):

1. Carmel
2. Lawrence Central
3. Fort Wayne Northrop
4. Noblesville
5. Terre Haute North
6. Carroll (Fort Wayne)
7. Hamilton Southeastern
8. Eastern (Greentown)
9. Warren Central
10. Center Grove
11. North Central (Indianapolis)
12. Ben Davis
13. West Lafayette
14. Bellmont
15. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran
16. Fort Wayne Wayne
17. Pike
18. Fishers
19. Huntington North
20. Columbus North
