W REX LEWIS INV.: Lawrence Central conquers 11-team field in Illinois

Max Brutus, senior Wendell Short, and senior Myron Hamilton were all individual champions Dec. 7 as Lawrence Central traveled to the suburban far-northside Chicago town of Buffalo Grove and came out victorious at the Rex Lewis Invitational.

“It was a great team effort to bring home the championship,” said LC coach Tom Corbett.

Senior Riley Newkirk placed second for the Bears, with third-place finishes nailed down by senior Scott Swingle, Teondre Williams, and senior Sam Torres. Brandon Glenn finished fourth, while Joe Smedley, Jonathon Watkins, and Quentin Rabin all ended up fifth.

Next up for the Bears is a Dec. 12 dual meet at Indianapolis Chatard.
