Home » Cross Country NewsBoys team moves on to Semi-StateOctober 17, 2012 By Jeffrey Irwin of Lawrence Central High SchoolSat. morning Oct. 13th, proved to be an exciting one as the LC boys XC team put their toes on the start line of the Regional XC race at Brebuf High School. They knew the teams were tough. Hamilton South Eastern with their individual Sectional champion, Carmel who had just won their Sectional, Westfield and of course Cathedral and LN who had come in 1 and 2 respectfully at our own sectional race. Matt Dorsey, Chandler Ball and Cole Hester were amongst the top 15 runners this day but as many know it is the top 5 from your team and their placement that matter. So as the Coaches and fans cheered Matt, Chandler, and Cole on to 5th, 6th and 13th places finishes everyone waited to see where Darin Lawrence and Adam Turner would finish. As they came across the finish line giving all they had the results were uncertain...would it be enough. Coaches seemed to think it was and true to form they were right. As the results were read the surprise came that LN didn't make it but Cathedral did with LC finishing 4th. "We need to keep our eyes on next week, with the numbers stating that we are righ there with the leaders (HSE, Carmel, & Westfield)" said Coach McCreary; this should lead everyone who is an LC fan the knowledge that on a great day we can compete for the STATE TITLE. Congrats boys on a great season! Keep running hard, and believing in yourself!
