Commander Tim Allen was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy from Oregon State University Navy ROTC in 1989. His first sea assignment was in USS JOHN HANCOCK, a Spruance class destroyer homeported in Mayport, FL. In JOHN HANCOCK, he deployed to the Arabian Gulf, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and North Atlantic. CDR Allen's second ship was USS LASALLE, a command ship designed to support an embarked fleet commander. The 2-year tour in LASALLE included the Arabian Gulf, and a homeport shift to Gaeta, Italy to be the 6th fleet flagship. CDR Allen then completed his first shore-based assignment at the Navy Manpower Analysis Center (NAVMAC) in Millington, TN. At NAVMAC he formulated manpower plans for sailors on ships. After a break in service CDR Allen began to drill as a Selective Reservist in Southern Oregon, then he recalled to active duty to be the Executive Officer of Navy & Marine Corps Reserve Center Phoenix, AZ. CDR Allen then assumed command of Navy Reserve Center Central Point, OR where he prepared sailor-citizens for mobilization events in the war zone. The Navy gave CDR Allen an early departure from command of the reserve center to assume a very difficult assignment in the Pentagon on the Navy Staff. The Pentagon job involved leading a team of scientists in complex modeling and simulation projects to develop future naval capabilities. During this tour CDR Allen volunteered for a 6-month tour in Iraq as the Liaison officer in the British HQ in Basrah. After the Pentagon your, CDR Allen returned to reserve management as the Operational Support Officer (OSO) for Naval Sea Systems Command (the HQ for Navy ship construction and repair). He had two subsequent tours as OSO, one at Navy Region Mid Atlantic, and one at Naval Surface Force Atlantic. Commander Allen volunteered for a 2nd overseas tour at US European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. CDR Allen's decorations include (2) Meritorious Service Medals, (5) Navy Commendations, (5) Navy Achievement Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal and various campaign awards. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Business Administration) from Oregon State and a Master of Arts (Computer Resources and Information Management) from Webster University.
CDR Allen is married to Bridget and they live in La Pine with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 20 chickens, 3 ducks, and 3 turkeys.
