The Benefest is an all day concert series featuring regional talent. The artists are donating their time and personal resources to entertain contributors to the cause and to raise funds for the work that still needs to be done to get some of the Lamar County residents back to "normal." Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 per person. Hand stamps will be available to allow people to come and go! Promoters of the event are also looking for volunteer help to take on such tasks as helping with parking, ushering, custodial work, and the like. If you are willing to lend a hand with band equipment - "roadie" kinds of chores - please contact Scott Votaw at 770-358-5891. If you want to help with other aspects of the Benefest, please call Bill Truby at the same number. Or drop by the BOE at 100 Victory Lane in Barnesville, just a couple blocks west of the FAC. Sign-up sheets are available there as well as more detailed information about the assignments for the day. 3-hour shifts are the standard request for participation. Couples especially are encouraged to sign up. And people willing to assume leadership levels of responsibility are asked to step forward as well. The goal is to raise at least $10,000 that will be donated to the Community Foundation, which is poised to disburse funds to our local residents as their needs arise.
