    The Lady Trojans took third place in the Lady Eagle Invitational in Roberta last weekend then split a pair of Region 4AA games last week to run their season record to 8-7. Lamar County is 2-1 in region play.

    In Roberta, Lamar opened the tournament with a 10-1 loss to tourney champion Mary Persons then lost to tournament runners-up Rutland 5-3.
    The Lady Trojans bounced back to beat tourney host Crawford County 7-4, Monticello 9-8 and Howard 12-8 before beating the Lady Eagles again 10-2 in the consolation game to bring home third place in the six team tournament.
    Lamar was led offensively by McKay Hickman who had seven hits in the tournament including five doubles. The sophomore outfielder drove home five runs, scored six and stole three bases.
    Junior shortstop Jesse McDaniel had six singles and a pair of doubles with five runs scored, five RBI and two stolen bases. Sophomore outfielder August Groover had seven base hits including a double as she scored six times, drove home a pair of runs and stole four bases.
    Junior first baseman Tyler Burnette and sophomore pitcher Tamara Watts added six singles each for the Lady Trojans in the tournament.

     Back home, Lamar fell 6-0 to Pike County managing only four hits in the contest.

     McDaniel had a pair of singles while Fowler and Burnette added one hit each.

    Watts took the loss pitching seven innings and allowing five earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three.

    The Lady Trojans bounced back from the loss to the Lady Pirates beating Monticello at home 7-3.

    Watts reached base three times, once via a base hit, stole three bases and scored three runs. Fowler doubled and Groover and Long added singles. Burnette and McDaniel drove home runs on ground outs.

    Watts again pitched and got a complete game win yielding three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five.
