With winds gusting at 40 miles per hour, both Burnsville and North were grounded from flight, but Lakeville North's offensive line, backs, and receivers proved once again that they take pride in their blocking. Jamiah Newell, Lee Edwards, and Tanner Jacobus ran the ball at will behind Adam Gigstad, Max Blosser, Cody Jones, Noah Swetala, and Dalton Lehnon. The Panthers did not punt in this game. On defense, North served up another bagel. It would be impossible to list every defensive player who stood out, because collectively, the defense never gave Burnsville a sniff of the end zone. Thaine Koen stepped in for Greg Menard and clogged the middle with Trent Piekarski, while Jack Goeman moved to the outside. The Lakeville North kickoff team also recovered two squib kicks, allowing the offense to start with great field position. On Friday, the Panthers were able to air it out in better conditions, with Matt Scheifelbein connecting on multiple passes to Nate McMillon and Seth Wyberg. Eric Murphy ran the best he has all season behind a line that saw the return of Ben Ziemer. On defense, the Panthers shut down the Blaze again, as Joe Haider intercepted a final desperation punt fake. North put a lot of pressure on the Blaze with Colton Pasvogel and Charlie Shreve ripping through the line for big sacks.
North hosts South on Thursday and travels there on Friday. Look for a great battle between the cross-town rivals.
