MATTOON--LAKER FIELD HOUSE--The Blue Angels of Kaskaskia College knocked the Lake Land College Lady Lakers from their Great Rivers Athletic Conference perch and spoiled LLCs perfect conference record with a 69-64 overtime win at Laker Field House Saturday night.
KC's Miranda Burroughs led the Blue Angles with a 17-point night, her first three scores, three-pointers, her next four scores, two-point field goals, and her last four scores coming as four free throws out of four attempts.
Burroughs teammate, Petra Elbert, was also in double-figures, tallying 11 points.
Otherwise, KC's head coach, Shane Larson, enjoyed a score book with a winning outcome featuring ten Blue Angels contributing points.
The Blue Angels' win improved their GRAC record to 5-1, moving them into a first place tie with Wabash Valley College. The Lady Lakers slip into third, a half-game behind the aforementioned.
Just as LLC had an advantage against Southwestern Illinois College not long ago due to SWIC's top two scorers unable to play (Janelle Cannon and Mone'y Black), head coach, Dave Johnson, had to make continual adjustments, his second leading scorer, Lauren Bogle, having been a bit under the weather, and his leading scorer, Shelby Kohrmann, a bit stifled by KC's defense.
