1-5-2013 Lakeridge Ski Team Finds “Risky Business” at CATO Race

Lakeridge High SchoolThe Lakeridge Ski Team won 2nd place for Boys Varsity in the Christine CATO Memorial Ski Race at Timberline on Saturday. This is the largest high school ski race in the country with close to 400 racers. It is a memorial race for Christine Cato, a Beaverton High School ski racer in the 1980s. Lakeridge used the “Risky Business” theme for the costume competition complete with dark glasses, dress shirts and boxer shorts and came away with an award for their efforts. Ashlay Ruddick was the 2nd place finisher on the Boys’ Varsity course and Jack Benziger finished 9th. The girls’ team finished strong as well with Nicole Humphries finishing 23rd and Lauren McIver 31st. Special recognition went to Kyle Barnes who is a new skier racing on just his 4th day of skiing. The regular ski racing season starts this Saturday with a Slalom race at Ski Bowl.
