Mt. Hood Lane Slalom Hike 2/11/12
February 15, 2012
Lakeridge High SchoolSki Bowl Mt. Hood Lane Slalom Race: Other than the chair stopping for an hour leaving most of the racers a 30 minute uphill hike for their first run, it was a beautiful day and a great race. The Pacer Girls Varsity achieved a third place finish behind another ice carving performance by Maddie Lawhead (2nd) with help from Emily Harrell (16th), Lauren McIver (17th) and Nicole Humphries (18th). The Pacer Boys Varsity won the race for second (behind West Linn) again this week. Sophomore Jack Benziger (15th) and freshman Ashlay Ruddick (10th) stepped up to help senior Riley Shearer (8th) lock in a trip to the state races. These finishes moved the Lakeridge Ski Team into a tie with Lincoln for first overall in the Three Rivers Ski League with one race to go.
The JV boys took second (also behind West Linn) led by Michael Ashworth (3rd) with help from Andrew Carlson (4th), Bryan Hungerford (5th) and Nick Trofgruben. The Girls JV team came in third this week led by Tai Stangeland (3rd), Sophie Richards (9th), Allie Douglas (10th), with Malin Svalling and Katie Markey helping out. As always, complete race results can be found at www.ski3rivers.org.
