Lafayette Jefferson High SchoolOn Saturday July 10th two Broncho's who have given so much of their time and talents to the youth of Track/Field and Cross-country were recognized as Volunteer of the Year Awards at the Hershey State Track meet held at Schumann Stadium.
Tom Rayner: Tom has spent countless hours for the past two years as Lafayette has hosted the Hershey state track meet. He has dedicated himself to providing the best meet in recent years for Hershey Track and Field. Tom's dedication and expertise in our sport enables Lafayette Jeff to successfully hold numerous track meets of various levels at our facility. Tom is very modest and humble about the job he does. No track and field meets throughout the state are done as professionally are done at Lafayette Jeff. Hershey Track and Field recognizes Tom and sends a huge Thank You for the success of our Meet.
Coach Phil Hurt: Back in 1969 through the Lafayette parks department Coach Hurt developed a summer track program for youth ages 9 - 14. At that time he traveled during the summer rotating to each elementary school each day during the summer. Since then he developed our summer track program and got us involved with the Hershey track program. He has sent numerous individuals to the National Meet. Due to his efforts in starting our program Jeff High Schools summer track and Cross-country camp has well over 100 children each summer participating. Hershey Track and Field thanks Coach Hurt for what he has done for the Young runners in our Community.
Thank you to both Tom Rayner and Coach Hurt for what you do for our young people and your dedication to Lafayette Jeff.
