Former Purdue standout Anna Drewry named Lafayette Jeff volleyball coach
April 25, 2014Lafayette Jefferson High School
It's a fresh start for everyone.
Lafayette Jeff is joining a new athletic conference starting in the fall. Anna Drewry embarked on a career in advertising sales after her playing career with the Purdue volleyball team, but she was drawn back to Tippecanoe County.
Drewry will be the coach of the Lafayette Jeff volleyball program as it makes its return to the North Central Conference in the fall.
"What better feeling is there after having lost touch with that strong program that took place before I was in the state of Indiana, having been cleansed of it all. Here we go, new start," Drewry said.
In the Bronchos, Drewry saw similarities to the Tom C. Clark program she played for in San Antonio, Texas.
Drewry, who starred for the Boilermakers from 2009 to 2012, succeeds Scott Graves.
"With Scott, they loved him. He was such a great coach and I think he sincerely left a mark on them," Drewry said. "They love volleyball because of his impact."
Lafayette Jeff is coming off a 7-27 season.
"Anna is a great fit for our school and our kids here at Jeff," athletic director Peyton Stovall said in a statement. "I'm excited about the passion she has to build a program and really get involved with our youth. She has tremendous potential to be one of the greats to coach volleyball because she's continuously a student of the game."
