Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos Varsity musters 4 hits, drops 16-0 contest to Logansport

April 13, 2014
Lafayette Jefferson High School

Lafayette Jeff dropped a 16-0 game to Logansport in five innings at Loeb Stadium.

The Berries (2-0) benefited from Dustin Clements’ five RBIs and Kyle Jordan’s 3-for-3 effort that included three RBIs, two doubles and a solo home run.

Travis Palmer gave up just three hits, singles to Jeremy Griggs, Alec Beaver and Austin Albrecht.

“The young guys need to learn that we’re not going to coast through like we did last week,” Jeff coach Scott McTagertt said. “We’re going to have adversity and they’re going to have to learn to battle through it. I told them Logansport grew up a bunch from last year. They had confidence out there. They had fun playing the game of baseball and they played it well.

“As soon as they got on us, there were two innings where we struggled and we just kind of dropped our shoulders and didn’t play the way we normally play.”

Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos Varsity scattered four hits on Friday, but weren't able to push enough runs across, and lost 16-0 to Logansport at Loeb Stadium - Lafayette.

Travis Palmer recorded the win for Logansport. He pitched five shutout innings. Travis struck out three, walked two and gave up four hits.

Jeremy Griggs was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

Logansport stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring four runs on a solo home run by Dustin Clements and three singles.

Logansport tacked on another eight runs in the fourth. Clayton Frye's single got things going, plating Chris Jones. That was followed up by Jacob Shelton's double, bringing home Travis and Marcus Record.
