Dual-threat carries Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos Baseball past Gary Westside- 17-0

Ethan Smith was strong at the plate and on the mound in carrying the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos Varsity Baseball team to a 17-0 victory in 5 innings, over Gary Westside on Saturday at Loeb Stadium in the first game of a doubleheader.
Ethan Smith racked up three RBIs on two hits for Lafayette Jefferson . He hit an inside the park home run in the first inning and singled in the third inning.
Ethan had an impressive outing against the Gary Westside lineup. Gary Westside managed just one hit off of the Lafayette Jefferson varsity's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during his three innings of work.
Nine runs in the opening three innings allowed the Bronchos to easily put away Gary Westside. A wild pitch, a two-run home run by Ethan Smith supplied the early offense for the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos.
Bycon Jones was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 17 runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked nine and struck out four.
Lafayette Jefferson built upon its lead with three runs in the third. The inning got off to a hot start when Tristan Brown singled, plating Alec Beaver. That was followed up by Austin Albrecht's single, scoring Alex Albrecht.
Lafayette Jefferson added eight more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A passed ball scored Justin Walker to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Brandon Gawlik's double, bringing home Travis Kirby and Austin Albrecht.
