Cold start dooms Lafayette Jeff at Brownsburg

Lafayette Jefferson High SchoolLafayette Jeff missed its first 11 shots, and Brownsburg took advantage for an easy 58-35 Hoosier Crossroads Conference boys basketball victory Friday night.
The Bronchos (7-13) weren’t much better in the second quarter, making 2 of 8, and trailed 30-8 at halftime. Playing without junior center Tyler Buchanan once again because of concussion symptoms, Lafayette Jeff finished shooting 26 percent from the field (11 of 42).
Peter Ripke was one of the few Bronchos on target against Brownsburg, finishing with 13 points. Ripke also shared game-high rebounding honors with Lucas Wallace, each of whom grabbed six. Freshman Darian Collins added 10 points.
Brownsburg (9-9) had just one double-figure scorer, Kenneth Walton with 15 points, but the Bulldogs had 10 different players score at least two points.
Lafayette Jeff will try to snap its four-game losing streak when it hosts Class 4A No. 3 Hamilton Southeastern on Friday.
