Jeff draws Marion; Knights open against Tri-Central

Defending champion Lafayette Jeff drew Marion for the opener of the Class 4A Lafayette Jeff Sectional baseball tournament at Loeb Stadium.

In pairings announced on Tuesday by the IHSAA, Harrison drew Kokomo in the other first round game. The winners of those games will play in the semifinals, with McCutcheon playing Logansport in the other semifinal.

Class 3A No. 8 and Sectional 20 host West Lafayette drew a first-round bye and will play either Benton Central or Northwestern in the semifinals. Also in the first round, Twin Lakes plays Western and Maconaquah plays Peru.

Three-time defending Class A state champion and Sectional 54 host Central Catholic opens against Tr-Central. The winner plays Clinton Prairie in the semifinals. No. 3 Frontier plays Rossville in the other semifinal.
