Generals take 2nd place in North Laurel Classic

The Lafayette High School boy's tennis team traveled to London, KY to compete in the North Laurel Tennis Classic this weekend.  The teams in the tournament included Lafayette, Clark County, Russell, and host North Laurel.  The Generals finished 2nd in the team standing behind Russell but were dominant in doubles play with junior Nathan Gillespie and senior Taylor Harris being crowned champions of the 1st flight doubles.  Their teammates sophomore Jonathan Griggs and junior Alex Money taking the 2nd flight doubles championships.  Lafayette scores from the North Laurel Classic are listed below:

Round 1: Ian Rowe (Clark Co.) def. Rylan Toland (Lafayette) 6-0, 6-0

Round 2: Alex Nguyen (Russell) def. Rylan Toland (Lafayette) 6-0, 6-2

Round 3: Dakotah Boggs (N. Laurel) def. Rylan Toland (Lafayette) 6-3, 7-5

#2 Singles

Round 1: Laz Wilkerson (Clark Co.) def. Hayden Marinaro (Lafayette) 6-3, 6-1

Round 2: Matthew Eastham (Russell) def. Hayden Marinaro (Lafayette) 6-0, 6-0

Round 3: Sahan Salim (North Laurel) def. Hayden Marinaro (Lafayette) 6-4, 7-6 (7-4)

#1 Doubles

Round 1: Gillespie/Harris (Lafayette) def. C. Nguyen/Groce (Russell) 6-1, 6-0

Round 2: Gillespie/Harris (Lafayette) def. Conkwright/Harrison (Clark Co.) 6-0, 6-1
