Lady Kougar CC Team Qualifies For Third Semi-State in Five Years

October 18, 2011
Kankakee Valley High School

On Saturday at the New Prairie Regional, the Lady Kougar CC team ran a tremendous race, battling the tough course, very windy conditions, and some of the top teams and individuals in the state to grab the final semi-state berth.  Soph. Kate Lott ran the race of her life, running a personal record of 22:46.1, good for a huge 52nd place to help her team qualify.  Classmates Allison Rockley-26th in 20:53.1, and Kaylin Orsburn-27th in 20:56.0, continued their fine seasons.  Fr. Michelle Kent and soph. Brittany Stepp also ran strong, with Kent 34th in 21:22.6, and Stepp-38th in 21:29.5, very important places as well.  Soph. Joli Jungels was 62nd in 24:19.5, with jr. Rachel Krupa-72nd in 26:21.6.  This was a true TEAM effort, and these ladies should be very proud of themselves.  Best wishes at semi-state, also held at New Prairie HS, with the boys' race scheduled to be run at 10:30, girls' race at 11:00.  Congratulations, ladies!!  Team scores were as follows:

1. Valpo-33 pts. 2. Portage-60 3. Chesterton-72  4. New Prairie-102  5. Kankakee Valley-161

6. LaPorte-162  7. Hebron-165  8. Morgan Twp.-223  9. Boone Grove-236  10. West Central-246.

(Kouts, Michigan City, North Judson and Wheeler had individuals competing.  For complete results go to www.ihsaa.org.)
