Today, Soph. track and field superstar, Jenna Jungels, was named to the Gary Post-Tribune All-Area Teams.  "Jr" joins a very select group of athletes as this year only 1st and 2nd Teams were chosen from the entire area; an area filled with stellar athletes in track and field.  She was selected 1st Team in the 100 hurdles, following a phenomenal season which saw her dominant this event the entire year, winning conference, sectional and regional titles in this event, ultimately setting the school record at the state meet in the trials with her blazing time of 14.87.  She finished with the 9th place medal, giving her three All-State honors already, in her stellar career.  (The other All-State selections were in the long jump, outdoors in 2013, and indoors in 2014.)  She was also selected 2nd Team in the long jump, where she also had a terrific season.  Jenna won the long jump at sectional, was 2nd at regional and 14th at the state meet.  Recently, this summer, she also jumped 18'-1", and this past indoor season, at the Hoosier State Relays (HSR) Championships (aka indoor state meet), she was a very strong 8th.  One of the top track and field athletes in KVHS history already, she has qualified for a remarkable 10 events at the state meet level, indoors and out, in just two seasons!  She holds school records in the 100 hurdles (14.87), long jump (18'-1" in 2013 at the HSR Trials), 4x100 (49.37 in 2013), and 4x200, set this year with a time of 1:48.36.  She was joined on both of those relays by sister Joli Jungels, Gab Martin and Leanna Mulloy.  Jenna also was among the area's best in the 200, winning that event at conference and sectional (meet record of 25.65), before dropping that event at regional, and advancing to state in the long jump, 100 hurdles and 400 relay in 2014.   Head Coach Lane Lewallen commented: "To be selected 1st and 2nd Team is a huge honor for Jenna and she deserves it very much.  To be among such an elite group of athletes is very special and she has proven time after time she is one of the area's and state's best."
