May 15, 2014
Kankakee Valley High School

Last night KV's Lady Kougar Track and Field Team finished a very strong 2nd with 135.5 points vs. a very strong field at the NCC meet.  Soph.  Jenna Jungels was named All-NCC 1st Team (1st place) in the 100 hurdles (15.6), the 400 relay (51.28) and the 200 (26.23). "Jr" was also Honorable Mention (HM) (3rd) in the long jump with a leap of  16'-8.75".  Matching this remarkable feat of four All-NCC selections was sr. sprint star Leanna Mulloy.  "Lee" blazed to her fourth 100 title in 12.79, a tremendous show of consistency in her career.  She then anchored the 400 relay champs and ran great in the 200 (tied for 2nd in 26.74-2nd Team), and ran a stellar 1600 relay leg, also 2nd in 4:19.37.  Joining the younger Jungels and Mulloy on the 400 relay were Joli Jungels and Gab Martin.  With Mulloy on the 1600 relay 2nd Teamers were Brittany Kent, Leah and Kara Gouwens, all of whom had terrific meets.  Joli, aka, "JJ" had a terrific meet.  Not only did she gut out 6th in the 300's and in the long jump (a SB jump of 16'-4"), but she blazed to a huge 2nd in the 100 for 2nd Team honors in 13.24. She was seeded 5th coming in to the race.  Alyssa Eger had the shot put event of her life!  She placed 3rd (HM) with a HUGE PR toss of 35'-5.5", a PR by almost a foot and a half!!  This toss also ranks "Egg" 8th on the area best list.  Mykenzie Seegers, just back from injury, vaulted great, grabbing HM honors with her 3rd place, SB vault of 8'-0". Sr. Allison Rockley had another awesome meet.  Ally R. led off the 3200 relay which placed a solid 4th in 10:34.30.  She then hustled home 7th in the 1600 in 5:53.56, then blasted a 6th place 3200 in a huge PR time of 12:34.68, good for 6th, despite being seeded 9th.  Joining her on the 3200 relay was Allison Schultheis, Kent and Brittany Stepp. K. Gouwens ran a SB 63.56 in the 400, good for 5th, with Kent a solid 7th.  L. Gouwens ran a very solid 5th in the 300's in 51.41.   Stepp also far exceeded her 800 seed of 7th, by running a SB 800 in 2:31.14, good for 4th. Another Allison, Ally Tokarz blew her previous PR's out of the water in the 1600 and 3200.  She ran the 3200 in 12:48.67, and placed 8th in the 1600 with a time of 5:55.40.  Another outstanding NCC meet, ladies!  Tonight after practice, all team members are invited to the team dinner, beginning at 5:00 in the cafe.  Thank you.
