Kougars Earn Perfect Victory

Wheatfield, IN--Kankakee Valley High School defeats NCC opponent 5-0 on Thursday, April 24th.

The Kougars went up 1-0 when Rikki Young dominated her #3 singles match 6-0, 6-0.  Young remains undefeated on the season.

          Freshman Molly Sanderson also made quick work of her opponent with another 6-0, 6-0 score.

          Seniors, Lexi Howard and Madison Babicka were the clinching point for the Kougars with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 doubles.

          The Kougars went up 4-0 when Paige Sanders made quick work of her #2 singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 score.

          The fifth and final point went to the Kougars at #2 doubles.  Senior Maddy Steinke and Sophomore Megan Groen defeated their oppoents 6-2, 6-0.

            “We had a perfect match today.”  Coach Katee said.  “Everyone won, and it was awesome.  It’s nice to see all the girls come out with a victory today, it was well deserved.”

           Kougars JV team also had a perfect victory defeating North Judson 8-0. 

        Senior, Courtney ‘Curt Breezy’ Brzezinski came off with a quick victory without dropping a game.

        Junior, Jessie Smundin was a quick second point for the Kougars.  Smundin also won 4-0, 4-0.

        Sophomore, Sydney Capouch gave the Kougars a 3-0 lead, with a dominating performance at #3 singles.

#1 doubles team of Amanda DeRolf and Liv Trainor earned the Kougars yet another 4-0, 4-0 victory.  The Kougars lead 4-0.

        Lexi Hamstra and Ariel Garcia dominate Griffith at the #2 doubles spot, without dropping a game.  This clinched the match, giving KV a 5-0 lead.

        Senior Katelyn Kamminga and Junior Delaney Hershman earn the Kougars another point with an impressive 4-1, 4-0 performance.  They remain undefeated this season!

          Freshmen Britney ‘Bert’ Hoffman and Kat Miles swept the court with their opponents 4-1, 4-0.

          Freshmen Kyla Dykstra and Christina Birky had to defend their undefeated record in dim light.  Their long match was ending as the sun went down, but it didn’t stop them from a 4-1, 4-1 victory.

        The Kougars are now 4-1 overall (2-1 NCC).  Kougars’ JV team move to 3-2 overall (2-1 NCC).  KV will host a conference  match against Andrean Tuesday April 29th.
