Kougars Shut Out Bluejays

Wheatfield, IN--Kankakee Valley High School defeats North Judson 5-0 in their first home match.
Kougars got their first point when Molly Sanderson defeated her #1 singles opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Megan Groen and Maddy Steinke were a quick second point for the Kougars with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #2 doubles.
Rikki Young was the third and clinching point for the Kougars with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3 singles.
The Kougars went up 4-0 when Paige Sanders swept the court 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles.
The fifth and final point went to the Kougars when #1 doubles team, Lexi Howard and Madison Babicka defeated their respectable opponents 6-1, 6-4.
“I’m so excited we won 5-0 today.” Coach Katee said. “I can see we have improved from our 4-1 win over them last year. We definitely showed up to play today, and the support from the crowd really helped.”
Kougars JV team also had a perfect victory defeating North Judson 3-0.
Senior, Courtney ‘Curt Breezy’ Brzezinski was quickly off the court with an impressive 8-0 win.
Junior, Jessie Smundin also swept the court with an 8-0 victory.
#1 doubles team with seniors Liv ‘Swizzle’ Trainor and Amanda DeRolf defeated their opponents 8-1.
The freshman Kougars played exhibition matches against Bluejays' 1-2 singles and 1 doubles players.
Britney ‘Bert’ Hoffman and Katherine ‘Kat’ Miles dominated their opponents 6-0.
Christina Birky and Kyla Dykstra have yet to drop a game this season with a 6-0 victory over their opponents.
The Kougars are now 2-0 overall (1-0 NCC). KV travels to Chesterton on Monday to take on the Trojans.
