Lady Kougar Track and Field Beat Andrean, Lose to Munster in NCC Double-Dual

Last night on another frigid evening, KV's Girls' Track and Field Team opened Northwest Crossroads Conference action with a split, losing to Munster and defeating Andrean.  KV is now 2-1 on the regular season.  They had some fine efforts.  Soph. Jenna Jungels again led the way with four impreesive first places vs. excellent competition.  "Jr" won the 100 hurdles in 15.9, the long jump with a 16'- 8 1/4", the 200 in a fast 26.8 and the 4x100 relay in 52.4.  Leanna Mulloy blazed to 1st in the 100 in 12.6, anchored the 4x100 winners, ran a strong 3rd overall in the 200 and a terrific 3rd leg of the 4x4.  Dedicated thrower Jazmyne Mehay was the overall discus winner, her hard work paying off once again.  Mehay threw the disc 97'-3" to claim overall honors.  The 4x1 relay team included Joli Jungels and Gab Martin.  Jungels was 3rd overall in the high jump, a 3rd in the long vs. Andrean, and 2nd in the 300's vs. the 59ers, and Martin, a 2x state qualifier, returned to action following a lingering injury.  Martin was 2nd in the 100 vs. Andrean.  Brittany Kent-Allison Schultheis-Allison Rockley and Brittany Stepp ran the 4x800 in 10:50.4, a SB, and good for 1st vs. Andrean.  Kent-400 in 65.9, and Stepp-800 in 2;35.0, were 2nd overall in those events with real good efforts.  Kent then ran a stellar 4x400 anchor leg, good for 1st vs. Andrean.  Rockley did the very tough triple, 4x800, 1600 (2nd vs. Andrean) and 3200, and ran a very strong 3200 in 13:26.0, 1st vs. Andrean.  Shanan Patrick ran a strong PR 100 hurdles in 18.1, good for 2nd vs. Andrean.  Erin Gouwens set a PR in the pole vault with a fine leap of 7', with sister Leah also PRing with a vault of 6'-6'', going 1-2 vs. Andrean, with Kara Gouwens 3rd vs. Andrean.  Alyssa Eger was 1st in the shot vs. Andrean. L. Gouwens had a strong meet, taking 3rd overall in the 300 hurdles in 53.1, and also running on the 4x400 squad, 1st vs. Andrean, and taking 3rd vs. Andrean in the 100's.  Beth Jansma was 3rd in the shot and 2nd in the discus vs. Andrean.  Emily Tauber was 3rd vs. Andrean in the discus.  Emily Ingram was 3rd in the 100 vs. Andrean as was Breanna Rose in the 800 and Julianna Colon in the 400.  Colon also led off the 4x400 relay. Allison Tokarz was 2nd in the 3200 vs. Andrean with a solid time of 13:47.0 into the wind, with Mackenzie DeMars 3rd vs. Andrean in the high jump. KV returns to action Sat. in the Hobart Little 5 meet.  Tonight we will review last night's meet, and go over Sat.'s line-up; practice Friday is (optional 9 am-11 am) please talk to your event coach.  Bus leaves Sat. at 7:45 am, meet starts at 10:00 am, 3200 relay and field events.
