Jenna Jungels and 4x200 Relay Qualify For Hoosier State Relays (HSR) Finals
March 16, 2014Kankakee Valley High School
Congratulations to sophomore track and field star Jenna Jungels for advancing to the Hoosier State Finals in three events: 60 meter hurdles (converted from 55 h), long jump and 4x200 relay. Her relay mates included big sister sr. leader Joli Jungels, versatile soph. Leah Gouwens and sr. sprint star Leanna Mulloy. Je. Jungels and the 4x2 finished the indoor season ranked among the top 24 state-wide (large schools division) in those three events to advance to the HSR Finals, a remarkable achievement, for a variety of reasons. That foursome shattered the old 4x2 record by nearly 3 seconds at the HSR Trials, last Thursday at Purdue, with a time of 1:50.9, and Je. Jungels also advanced with a 9.88 60 hurdle time and a 16'-4.5" long jump. She will compete with big sister "JJ" and the rest of who makes up the the 4x200 relay this Sat. March 22nd, at 1:00 CST, at Indiana Wesleyan University. Last year, Mulloy placed 8th there to garner a medal in the 55 meter dash at the "indoor state meet." Je. Jungels placed 8th in the outdoor state meet long jump in 2013, and was on the school-record holding 4x100 relay team that included Jo. Jungels, Mulloy and Gab Martin which also qualified for the state outdoor meet last season. Best wishes ladies, this Sat., and congratulations, again!
