KV's Boys' and Girls' Cross Country Teams Sweep Sectional Titles

Tonight the Lady Kougar Cross Country Team joined their male counterparts in bringing home the Rensselaer Sectional Championship team trophy, their third in four years and second in a row. Sr. Allison Rockley celebrated with the best sectional run of her stellar career, grabbing a huge 3rd place individual ribbon with an excellent time of 20:41.31. Classmate and buddy, Kaylin Orsburn, running her best also when it matters most, hustled in 5th with a fine time of 20:58.55. Freshman Brittany Kent and sr. Brittany Stepp battled each other and the elements to finish a solid 10th and 11th, with times of 21:27.17 and 21:27.81. Fr. Allison Schultheis, running with more and more confidence each meet, had a very strong 15th place finish with an excellent time of 22:15.68. All five of these runners earned individual ribbons. Also competing for KV and earning team blue championship ribbons along with their teammates were jr. Lauren VanderWall (24:17.06, a strong time), and sr. Kate Lott (25:21.39.) Lott was officially named today as an Academic All-State Honorable Mention selection from the ICGSA. Coach Lane Lewallen commented: "It was a very big night for both KV cross teams. Congratulations go out to both teams on excellent efforts. I am so proud of my girls and what they have accomplished tonight and throughout their careers, AND we look for more great efforts as the season continues. Congratulations, ladies!"
