Orsburn and Rockley-All NCC 1st Teamers, Rockley For Fourth Straight Year, in NCC Cross Country Meet

At Saturday's NCC Meet hosted by Hobart HS, KV's Lady Kougar Cross Country Team performed at a very high level. In their best meet thus far, KV earned team 3rd place ribbons with 75 pts. behind powerhouse teams, Hobart and Munster, and in front of very solid teams such as Andrean and Lowell. Senior buddies Kaylin Orsburn and Allison Rockley capped off their NCC careers in a major way, finishing 6th and 7th to both earn ALL-NCC 1st Team honors!! Orsburn ran the race of her career, using her low 6:20's 1st mile split to propel her to a season-best time of 20:58 on the windy challenging course. Rockley opened with a 6:21 first mile, and in yet another consistent race of her stellar career, kept charging and charging to finish 7th and earn her FOURTH straight All-NCC 1st Team selection in cross country, a remarkable achievement and streak!! Her time was 21:03. Freshmen Brittany Kent-17th in 21:48, sr. Brittany Stepp-22nd in 21:58 and fr. Allison Schultheis-23rd in a near personal record time of 22:12 finished in a nice pack to top off KV's top 5. Kent's 17th place earned her All-NCC Honorable Mention status, a very strong showing in this very competitive conference. Stepp's first mile was 6;20, Kent's 6:22 and Schultheis's was 6:28. Kate Lott ran a 7:57 1st mile and finished with a time of 25:53 with Boo Beenes running the same mile split and finishing in 26:03. Maddi Nomanson had a 7:44 1st mile and a final solid time of 27:46 in the reserve race. KV returns to action Tuesday the 15th at the Rensselaer Sectional where they look to defend their team title from 2012.
